How my journey began

LaKisha Tolbert is the founder and owner of WATER The Heart. She is the author of an inspirational book about her journey, “Flawed but Fabulous: A Seed of Hope”, and she also wrote Heart Decisions Workbook and Heart Core Poetry.  Tolbert is a Licensed Professional Counselor experienced educator with over 14 years of a Title I school. She is certified in EC-4, ELR 4-8, EC-12 Special Education, and School Counseling. She has worked for the following non-profit agencies: Project SAVE, Adult Literacy, and Even Start where she received mentor and WAIT relationship training.  Her personal and professional journey has given her experiences, understanding, and skills to assist others on their journey of success with mental and emotional strength.

As a teen mother from a single-parent home who overcame odds, LaKisha knew she had a mission to guide others toward a less challenging road while encouraging those on a similar path to keep pushing through the obstacles. Her passion for helping others reach their highest potential has driven her to continue to grow, so she can continue to lift others as she climbs.

WATER The Heart

Our mission is to assist in self-development of mental & emotional wellness by providing counseling, coaching, mentoring, and consulting to increase self-awareness, start positive self-talk, and identify personal purpose though WATER Her Heart Empowerment Conferences, Heart Decisions Program, HUGS Resource Referral, SMILES Support Groups, and Next Step Programs.
